September’s mobile game download chart: Free Fire, Roblox, Block Blast, Bus Fever Party, more
According to Appmagic data, September’s mobile gaming market showed mixed momentum among top titles. Free Fire Max maintained consistent downloads of approximately 22 million installs, sustained since March through strategic crossover events including a Naruto collaboration. However, Roblox reported a second consecutive month of download decline, signaling potential challenges for the platform.
In revenue, Honor of Kings retained the top-grossing position despite a second straight month of revenue decline. The game maintained a commanding lead of roughly $35 million ahead of second-place Gossip Harbor from Microfun, which secured its second consecutive month in the runner-up spot.
The data carries notable limitations: Appmagic’s estimates exclude China’s fragmented Android market—a significant gap given China’s importance in mobile gaming. Revenue figures also omit ad revenue, the 30% fees retained by Apple and Google, and earnings from China’s Android ecosystem, meaning actual revenues substantially exceed reported figures. These constraints make the rankings primarily reflective of Western mobile gaming trends rather than global markets.
