Battlefield 6 Resurrects the Corpse of Dead Space With The Marker Tease

Battlefield 6 Season 5 launches October 13 with three new maps, including a highly destructible recreation of Las Vegas’s Strip and Area 51. Players will receive six new weapons, two new vehicles, and a new free-to-play mode for REDSEC. The season also introduces Ranked Battle Royale to the game.

While the season’s official trailer showcases the destruction and chaos of the Vegas Strip and Area 51 maps, it concludes with an intriguing tease for Dead Space fans. The trailer shifts from explosive gameplay to an ominous scene featuring Dead Space engineers staring up at The Marker, the iconic alien artifact from the survival-horror series. This suggests an official crossover event is coming to Battlefield 6, likely as a limited-time game mode.

The tease is particularly noteworthy given that Electronic Arts has the Dead Space franchise on hold following disappointing sales for the critically acclaimed 2023 remake, despite its game-of-the-year contention. Rather than developing a new mainline Dead Space title, EA appears to be keeping the franchise alive through crossover content in other games. The Dead Space collaboration offers Battlefield players a glimpse of the series’ signature horror aesthetic while potentially introducing the Marker and its lore to a wider audience.
