‘Nier: Automata’s 2B Officially Returns in Release Available Today
Square Enix has announced a crossover between Nier: Automata and asymmetric multiplayer survival horror game Dead by Daylight. Three characters from the acclaimed action RPG—2B, A2, and Emil—are now available in Dead by Daylight as of October 6, 2026.
The collaboration was revealed by Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive. Creative Director Dave Richard highlighted the thematic alignment between the two properties, noting that both franchises explore cycles of violence and suffering. This shared narrative ground provided the foundation for bringing the beloved Nier: Automata cast into The Fog, the game’s central setting.
The crossover brings the iconic androids 2B and A2, alongside the enigmatic Emil, into Dead by Daylight’s multiplayer survival horror framework. While specific details about their roles—whether as playable survivors or other in-game additions—weren’t fully detailed in the announcement, such crossovers typically introduce new cosmetics, skins, or characters to the game.
This partnership adds to Dead by Daylight’s extensive history of crossovers with major gaming franchises. As a live-service title, the game regularly features limited-time collaborations that introduce characters and content from other properties, keeping the experience fresh for its large player base.
The Nier: Automata crossover is now live across Dead by Daylight’s supported platforms, making the characters available to the game’s community immediately.
