Something Is Killing the Children is Getting a Game

“Something Is Killing the Children,” the bestselling horror comic by writer James Tynion IV and artist Werther Dell’Edera, is expanding into the tabletop gaming space. Tiny Onion, the production company founded by Tynion, has announced Something Is Killing the Children: A Gridstorm Game, a new 1v1 card battler that brings the comic’s dark universe to the tabletop.

The game employs a grid-based battlefield system where strategic positioning and character-specific card effects determine the outcome of battles between players. Each player commands a deck featuring characters and creatures from the comic’s universe, including the protagonist Erica Slaughter and various Hunters. The tactical nature of the game mirrors the strategic combat found in the source material, translating the comic’s storytelling into an interactive gameplay experience.

The Gridstorm game is scheduled to launch on Kickstarter in 2027, offering fans a new way to engage with the horror-tinged world of “Something Is Killing the Children.” While the comic series is known for its visceral and intense battles, the tabletop adaptation is expected to feature significantly less graphic violence, making it more suitable for traditional board game formats.
