007 First Light Players Unlock A Very Good Boy

IO Interactive’s James Bond game 007 First Light has reached a significant milestone with 7 million wishlists on Steam, triggering a special reward for players. The developer has added Jack the bulldog to the game as an unlockable companion character available in the TacSim lobby.

Jack originated as a statue figurine on M’s desk in the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall, and later appeared in Spectre and No Time To Die. In the film, the statue survived an office explosion though it sustained damage, with its face cracked and Union Jack flag charred. The character now makes its video game debut in First Light, reimagined as a living companion rather than a static object.

The in-game Jack is designed to serve as a “warm, loyal presence” for players between missions, with an endearing personality described as “gruff on the outside but endlessly good-natured.” Players can interact with the dog through petting mechanics, adding a personal touch to downtime between gameplay sessions. This addition exemplifies how developers use live-service mechanics and community milestones to reward player engagement and deepen immersion in their games.
