Star Wars: Zero Company studio is bringing “as many people back as possible” after furloughing “most” of its developers

Bit Reactor, the developer of Star Wars: Zero Company, has begun recalling staff members it furloughed ahead of the game’s late August launch. The Maryland-based studio laid off more than 80% of its workforce due to unexpected business developments and depleted funding, leaving developers without pay or benefits for over a month. CEO Greg Foertsch announced this week that the studio has initiated the process of bringing developers back to work. According to sources familiar with the situation, more than half of the pre-furlough team is being rehired. Foertsch characterized the staff returns as an “important step forward” in the studio’s continued support for Zero Company, which launched to strong critical reviews. While specific rehiring numbers were not disclosed, the move provides relief to staff members who faced months of uncertainty following the abrupt furloughs. The studio’s recovery efforts occur amid an ongoing legal dispute involving CEO Foertsch and co-founder Alison Kelly.
