Quarterfinals: Vote for the best RTS unit of all time
PC Gamer is running a community voting tournament to determine the greatest real-time strategy unit of all time. The competition has advanced to the quarterfinals, with the original 16 contenders narrowed down to 8 through democratic voting.
Notable quarterfinal results showed varying degrees of competition. The Rohirrim from Battle for Middle-earth narrowly defeated Warhammer 40K’s Psyker from Dawn of War in a tightly contested matchup, with the two units swapping voting positions throughout the contest. In a more decisive outcome, Warcraft’s Peon overwhelmingly defeated Rise of Legends’ Glass Dragon, establishing a significant voting gap early in the round.
The tournament emphasizes the grassroots, community-driven approach to crowning a champion, combining “democracy and science” to settle the question of RTS unit supremacy. The winning units will advance to the next round of competition to determine the ultimate greatest unit of the real-time strategy genre.
