Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 Could Be Set for PS5 and Xbox Series Upgrades After Definitive Editions Leak Online
Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 Definitive Editions appear to be heading to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, according to newly spotted ESRB ratings. Both games have been rated M (Mature 17+) for the current-generation consoles, with the ratings noting content including violence, nudity, sex, and blood.
The development follows a similar pattern established earlier this year when Mafia: Definitive Edition received an upgraded port for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in August 2026. That release featured performance improvements including 60fps gameplay and various visual enhancements designed to leverage current-gen hardware.
While 2K Games has not officially announced upgrades for Mafia 2 and 3, the ESRB ratings suggest formal announcements may be coming soon. These Definitive Edition versions already exist on last-generation consoles, so the new ratings presumably correspond to current-gen ports with expected performance upgrades including higher frame rates and improved graphics.
The move aligns with an industry trend of bringing popular older titles to current-generation platforms, giving players access to enhanced versions of classic games. The Mafia series has seen renewed interest following the success of Mafia: Definitive Edition, which was praised as an excellent entry point for new players to the franchise.
