New Walmart promo is the safest way to buy ‘Pokémon’ 30th anniversary TCG on release day

Walmart has launched a new raffle system to address supply shortages of the Pokémon 30th anniversary Trading Card Game set following its initial release. The initiative, which began testing in late August, aims to provide fans with a fair and safe purchasing method without requiring store visits or customer service strain.

The raffle system works by posting product availability schedules in advance. Interested buyers then have a limited window—typically a few hours—to enter the drawing for a chance to purchase the trading cards. Winners are selected through the raffle mechanism rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.

This approach addresses multiple pain points that emerged after the TCG set’s launch: many retailers like The Pokémon Center and Target sold out quickly, leaving collectors unable to secure Booster Boxes despite wanting to purchase them. The raffle system eliminates the need for fans to camp outside stores or repeatedly contact retail employees about product availability.

Walmart’s initiative represents a retail solution to managing high-demand collectible releases, offering an alternative to traditional restocking methods and providing a more organized purchase experience for the Pokémon community.
