Riot Games announces a final hurrah for its ill-fated fighting game 2XKO, with a surprise character joining the roster this month
Riot Games announced the final major update for 2XKO, its League of Legends fighting game, arriving October 27th, 2026. The update introduces Samira as the game’s 16th character alongside a surprise reveal of Sett, a long-requested bulky brawler character. Sett was created by the remaining development team in just six months.
The announcement follows Riot’s August confirmation that 2XKO would end active development in December 2026. Despite the shutdown, the company plans to keep game servers online indefinitely, allowing players to continue enjoying the title. In a player-friendly gesture, Riot is offering refunds for any money spent on the game, and all characters will become available to the community.
2XKO launched its first official season in 2026, making it one of Riot’s shorter-lived live-service experiments. The fighting game struggled to gain traction in a competitive market dominated by established franchises. The surprise addition of Sett demonstrates the development team’s continued commitment during the wind-down period, delivering fan-requested content as the project transitions to maintenance mode.
