Best Buy Wants To Travel Back To 1998 With Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Midnight Launch

Best Buy has announced it will open select stores at midnight on November 5 to celebrate the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2. The retail chain is recreating the nostalgic experience of the original game’s 1998 Nintendo 64 midnight launch, when digital storefronts didn’t exist and the only way to get games early was to visit physical stores after hours.

Customers who have already preordered the game will be able to participate in the midnight launch event. Beyond game copies, Best Buy will also have stock of the limited-edition Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 console and matching Switch 2 Pro controller available at the midnight opening. This provides a second opportunity for players who missed out on these special-edition items during the September preorder window.

However, Best Buy has not yet specified how many systems will be available or which specific stores will participate in the midnight launch event. The retailer’s website features a countdown to the November 5 release date.
