Cyberpunk 2077 Is Getting A Movie Adaptation At Call Of Duty Film Studio, Transformers Producer On Board

Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film adaptation of CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077, marking the latest addition to the studio’s slate of video game adaptations alongside Call of Duty and Street Fighter.

Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is attached to produce the film alongside CD Projekt Red. The game developer’s co-CEO Michał Nowakowski expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We’re excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise.”

No details have been announced regarding the film’s creative team, including directors, writers, or cast members. The studio has not clarified whether the adaptation will faithfully translate the 2020 game to screen or present an original story set in the Cyberpunk universe, similar to Netflix’s acclaimed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series.

The announcement reflects the ongoing Hollywood trend of adapting video game properties across film and television. The success of Edgerunners in 2022 demonstrated the commercial viability of Cyberpunk content in different media formats and likely paved the way for this larger-scale live-action project.
