“It’s clear that we both adore one another’s games a lot” - Dave the Diver and Subnautica 2 team up for a crossover made in heaven
Dave the Diver and Subnautica 2 have officially announced a crossover collaboration, revealed at the Triple-I Initiative showcase. The free DLC, coming in early 2027, will mark Dave the Diver’s final content update, bringing together two deep-sea exploration games that differ drastically in tone but share thematic appeal.
In the crossover, players will take the titular Dave into the alien ocean of Subnautica 2’s planet, where he can interact with the survival game’s otherworldly creatures and environments. This includes encounters with Subnautica 2’s fearsome Leviathan and the opportunity to hunt and mine resources in the alien waters. The concept aligns well with Dave’s culinary focus, offering potential for discovering new sushi recipes from the exotic marine life.
The collaboration represents an unusually fitting partnership compared to Dave the Diver’s previous crossovers with franchises like Balatro, Yakuza, Godzilla, and Guilty Gear. While the two games sit at opposite ends of the tonal spectrum—Dave being whimsical and comedic while Subnautica 2 is atmospheric and survival-focused—their shared foundation in deep-sea exploration creates natural synergy. Mintrocket and Unknown Worlds collaborated on the content, with both studios expressing mutual admiration for each other’s work.
