You can now test Microsoft’s new Windows Search experience
Microsoft has unveiled an enhanced Windows Search experience that brings significant performance improvements and expanded functionality to Windows 11. The new Search feature was showcased at Microsoft’s Windows 11 and Surface event and represents a substantial upgrade from the previous iteration.
The updated Search experience prioritizes speed and efficiency with a streamlined interface designed for easier scanning and navigation. Beyond its core functionality of locating files and applications, the new Search has expanded into task automation capabilities. Users can now perform system operations directly through Search, such as switching their PC to dark mode or adjusting computer volume, demonstrating Microsoft’s vision of Search as a broader productivity tool.
The feature is currently available for testing through Windows Insider builds, specifically through the Experimental channel. This phased rollout allows Microsoft to gather feedback from early adopters and make refinements before a wider public release. Select Windows Insiders who opt into the latest Experimental builds can access and test the new Search experience.
The improvements align with Microsoft’s broader efforts to enhance the Windows 11 user experience and make the operating system more responsive and capable. By combining performance enhancements with task automation features, Microsoft is positioning Search as a central hub for user interactions with their system.
