You can now sign up to playtest the genre-bending Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, and while you’re at it the original is free for a few days too

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus has officially opened signups for its playtest, following a new trailer that premiered at the latest Triple-i Initiative showcase event. The sequel continues developer Daniel Mullins’ distinctive approach of blending multiple genres into single, cohesive gaming experiences—an approach he famously demonstrated with his critically acclaimed title Inscryption. The upcoming game is being positioned as genre-bending, combining numerous different gameplay styles that somehow work together seamlessly to create what industry observers have termed an “everything seasoning” design philosophy.

In coordination with the playtest announcement and trailer reveal, the original Pony Island is being offered to players for free during a limited promotional period. This complementary offering serves as both an introduction to Mullins’ creative design philosophy and a tie-in to build excitement surrounding the upcoming sequel, giving players who may be unfamiliar with his work a chance to experience his debut title before diving into the new release.
