Witcher 3 Remastered patch rolls out on PC and console, with separate Switch 2 patch earmarked to address blurry visuals
CD Projekt Red has released patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3 Remastered across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. The update primarily addresses widespread player complaints about excessive bloom lighting effects that created a washed-out visual appearance, diminishing the game’s atmospheric shadows and overall graphical improvements. The patch adds new bloom control options to console versions, allowing players to disable or adjust the effect to their preference—functionality that was previously only available on PC through settings.
The developer acknowledged that the bloom issue affected the remaster’s visual presentation despite its numerous improvements over the base game. Players had expressed frustration on social media about how the overdone bloom effects compromised the tonal quality of the game’s environments.
Additionally, CD Projekt Red announced plans for a separate update for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the remaster. This upcoming patch will introduce the same global changes as other platforms while incorporating Switch 2-specific improvements focused on enhancing image clarity and sharpness. The company stated its goal is to achieve better parity between all versions of the game. Further details on the Switch 2 patch are expected in the coming days.
