Xbox CEO Asha Sharma Confirms “Family of Devices” for 10th Console Generation in Microsoft Town Hall Meeting

Microsoft has officially confirmed that its next-generation Xbox console, codenamed Project Helix, will not be a single device but rather a “family of devices,” according to CEO Asha Sharma’s remarks during an internal town hall meeting. This strategy marks a significant departure from the traditional single-device console paradigm, blurring the boundaries between dedicated gaming consoles and PC hardware.

The “family of devices” approach will include consoles developed by both Microsoft and third-party manufacturers, offering consumers multiple options. Building on earlier industry reporting, the company is exploring additional device categories beyond traditional consoles, including gaming handhelds, as part of the Helix ecosystem.

The announcement reflects Microsoft’s evolving hardware strategy as it prepares for the tenth generation of gaming consoles. CEO Sharma also outlined forthcoming changes to Game Pass, plans for increased investment in Battle.net integration, and streamlined development processes intended to improve efficiency across Xbox’s operations.
