Ace Combat 8 becomes fastest-selling game in the series, and very nearly the highest rated
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has achieved a major milestone for the series, reaching one million copies sold faster than any previous entry in the franchise. Publisher Bandai Namco announced the achievement approximately one week after the game’s October 2nd release.
Beyond the sales record, the eighth mainline Ace Combat game has also earned strong critical reception, achieving a Metacritic score of 86-88, making it the second highest-rated entry in the series. Only Ace Combat 4 ranks higher with a score of 89.
The game has demonstrated solid performance across platforms, with notably strong player engagement on Steam since launch. The rapid sales milestone underscores the enduring appeal of the aerial combat series and suggests continued momentum for the franchise heading into the remainder of the year.
