New D&D Baldur’s Gate 3 Series Stars Everyone’s Favorite Vampire Spawn

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has announced a new ongoing comic book series centered on Astarion Ancunín, the vampire spawn rogue who has become a fan favorite character from the acclaimed RPG. Announced at New York Comic Con, the first arc will consist of six issues following Astarion as he navigates life after breaking free from his former master Cazador Szarr.

The comic, written by Alyssa Wong (known for her work on Deadpool) and illustrated by Vincenzo Carratù, is set in the city of Waterdeep where Astarion must investigate a series of ritual murders. The plot threatens to entangle him in a dangerous conspiracy as he works to prevent becoming the killer’s next victim.

This expansion of Astarion’s story continues Larian’s broader effort to develop the Baldur’s Gate 3 universe beyond the game itself. The character previously starred in a prequel novel written by T. Kingfisher (author of Nettle & Bone), demonstrating the character’s significant appeal to fans and the studio’s interest in exploring the rich narrative potential of its characters.
