Blumhouse Partners With MatPat to Make Amanda the Adventurer Movie, Confirms More Indie Horror Game Adaptations Are Coming | NYCC 2026

Blumhouse Productions has announced a partnership with YouTube content creator Matthew “MatPat” Patrick to develop theatrical films based on indie horror games. The collaboration was revealed at New York Comic Con 2026, with Amanda the Adventurer, a first-person puzzle-solving horror game, set as the first film adaptation.

During the NYCC panel, representatives from both Blumhouse and MatPat confirmed multiple projects are in development, with MatPat stating his intention to partner with the production studio to bring “all-time favorite indie games and horror channels from the interwebs” to the big screen.

This marks a significant expansion of Blumhouse’s portfolio into video game adaptations and reflects the broader entertainment industry trend of converting indie gaming IP into film and television content. The partnership uniquely leverages MatPat’s substantial YouTube audience and established credibility within gaming and pop culture commentary communities, positioning him as both a curator and producer of game adaptations.
