Call Of Duty: MW4 Early Access Also Includes DMZ, Here’s How To Get In
Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode will be available in early access starting October 20, 2026—three days before the game’s full launch on October 23. This early access opportunity follows the campaign’s early access window, which begins October 16.
Players can access DMZ early by pre-ordering any edition of Modern Warfare 4, including both the standard and Vault versions. The early access is available across all platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical copies will still need to wait until the October 23 launch date.
DMZ is an extraction-based shooter mode that serves as Call of Duty’s “definitive extraction shooter experience.” The mode features an open-world environment where players engage with both AI combatants and other human players. Core gameplay loops include exploring the map to search for loot, crafting gear, and completing objectives while managing extraction from the zone.
This represents the return of DMZ to the Call of Duty franchise, having previously appeared in 2022. The mode offers a distinct experience from traditional multiplayer, emphasizing resource management and extraction mechanics alongside combat.
Activision’s rollout strategy—offering campaign access five days early and DMZ access three days early—appears designed to drive pre-order momentum. With Modern Warfare 4 launching shortly before GTA 6 and notably absent from Xbox Game Pass following previous franchise entries, early access incentives become particularly important for player acquisition.
