Ubisoft to sunset Rainbow Six Mobile just seven months after launch

Ubisoft has announced that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Mobile will be shutting down on January 15, 2027, less than a year after its global launch. The final season will release as planned before the closure date.

According to AppMagic data, the mobile title generated approximately $5.3 million in in-app purchase revenue across 13.1 million downloads during its lifetime. The game’s journey to closure is notable given its extended development period: first announced in April 2022, Rainbow Six Mobile had been in development for seven years by the time it launched, with 11 Ubisoft studios collaborating on the project alongside mobile shooter specialist Tencent. Ubisoft Montreal led the development effort.

The decision to sunset the game represents a significant pivot for the project, which was treated as a major AAA mobile title. The extended soft launch that began in 2023 ultimately did not translate into sustained momentum in the competitive mobile gaming market. While the game secured a reasonable install base, the revenue generated appears insufficient to justify continued development and operational costs.
