Wardogs Dev Explains Why Blue Team Loses More, Confirms Plan to Address the Balance in Season 2

Wardogs developer Bulkhead has acknowledged and plans to address a significant balance issue affecting the game’s blue team, Lonestar, which has been losing more frequently than other factions since the game’s early September launch.

Since Wardogs launched, players have widely mocked the blue team Lonestar for its poor performance, with countless videos showcasing team failures ranging from helicopter crashes at base to tactical blunders. According to Bulkhead, Lonestar’s win percentage is genuinely lower than other teams, though the gap has narrowed somewhat over time as players have gained experience.

To combat the disparity in Season 2, Bulkhead is implementing a two-part incentive structure. The developer will offer Lonestar players bonus cash and experience points specifically to encourage selection of the struggling faction. The plan also includes a new Bakurani spawn location designed to improve blue team gameplay.

Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer stated the team is actively “looking at how we can help the win rate of a certain team,” acknowledging both the perception and reality of the imbalance. The balance issues aren’t purely perception—practical design problems have disadvantaged Lonestar, including lackluster camouflage mechanics that put the team at a tactical disadvantage.

The recruitment strategy reflects a broader problem in Wardogs: many players actively avoid selecting Lonestar, sometimes waiting minutes on the selection screen for slots to open on the more popular Green or Red teams. By offering financial and progression incentives, Bulkhead hopes to distribute players more evenly across factions while the developers work on underlying mechanical improvements.
