Wardogs Dev Holding Back Certain Features Because of Xbox Series S, but Working to ‘Very Low-End Hardware’ Has Its Benefits
Bulkhead Interactive, developer of Wardogs, has acknowledged that Xbox Series S hardware limitations are constraining certain features in the game. During a press conference for Wardogs Season 2, CEO Joe Brammer revealed that the console’s specifications restrict the team’s ability to implement dynamic weather systems. Rather than weather that shifts during matches, the studio is introducing a persistent rain feature for Season 2—a constant downpour throughout entire matches instead of dynamically changing conditions.
Brammer emphasized that while the Xbox Series S presents development constraints faced by all studios working with the hardware, developing for lower-end systems has also provided unexpected benefits for the project. The balance between technical limitations and creative solutions reflects broader challenges in cross-platform game development, where supporting less powerful hardware requires strategic design compromises while identifying innovative workarounds.
The new weather system will arrive alongside other Season 2 additions, representing the team’s effort to enhance the game within the parameters of current-generation console hardware.
