Blumhouse Gives Updates on Paranormal Activity 8, Saw 11, River, Something Is Killing the Children, and More | NYCC 2026
At New York Comic Con 2026, Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster announced multiple upcoming horror film projects during a 90-minute “Blumfest” panel. Key announcements included a partnership with YouTuber and moderator MatPat to produce films based on indie horror games, with “Amanda the Adventurer: The Movie” confirmed as their first collaboration under the deal.
The eighth installment of the Paranormal Activity franchise emerged as a major focus, set to release on May 21, 2027—marking 20 years since the original film and six years since the last installment. The new film will return to the iconic Katie and Micah house from the first movie, though plot details remain undisclosed. Jason Blum emphasized the franchise’s deep personal significance, noting it was the project that established Blumhouse initially. Though the series had become overdone in recent years, Blum expressed enthusiasm for the revival after James Wan proposed bringing it back as a collaborative effort between their companies.
The panel also teased additional projects including Saw 11, River, and Something Is Killing the Children, though limited details were disclosed for these titles.
