Naruto Teasers Reveal New Shadow Rising Manga and Anime Crossover Series

Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto announced two new projects at New York Comic Con 2026, launching a major expansion initiative called Project Rasengan that extends through 2029. The announcements include a new original manga titled “Shadow Rising” by Kishimoto and a crossover anime series called “Naruto x Ninku.”

The crossover anime unites the Naruto franchise with Ninku, a martial arts shonen manga and anime series from the 1990s that originally inspired Kishimoto’s creation of the Naruto franchise. The anime is currently in active production, with its placement on the Project Rasengan roadmap suggesting a 2027 release date.

Details about the Shadow Rising manga remain limited, with only confirmation of its title and Kishimoto’s involvement. Both projects received teaser trailers during the Comic Con panel, demonstrating the franchise’s continued expansion plans. The announcements represent the latest developments in the long-running Naruto franchise, which continues to evolve more than two decades after its original debut.
