Image Comics’ Roam Reunites Paper Girls Creators Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang

Image Comics has announced a major creative reunion: Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang, the acclaimed team behind Paper Girls, are collaborating on a new ongoing series called Roam. This marks their first partnership in over a decade, making it one of the most significant announcements from New York Comic Con 2026.

The full creative team includes colorist Matt Wilson and letterer Jared Fletcher. Roam explores a speculative future where superhero abilities are available to everyone—but only during their youth. The concept continues the complex, character-driven sci-fi storytelling both creators are known for.

Vaughan, who also wrote the acclaimed series Saga, and Chiang, known for Catwoman: Lonely City, are both Eisner Award winners with considerable industry prestige. Their previous collaboration on Paper Girls was critically successful and demonstrated their distinctive approach to blending compelling character work with innovative narratives. The reunion represents significant momentum for Image Comics, one of the industry’s leading independent publishers, and is expected to attract strong reader interest given the creators’ track record and established fanbase.
