Strange Scaffold announces Gods With Badges, a tactics game where you decide when to switch off your bodycam

Strange Scaffold, the developer known for I Am Your Beast and El Paso, Elsewhere, has unveiled Gods With Badges, a narrative-driven tactics game exploring themes of police authority and moral choice. The game was revealed during the Triple-I Initiative showcase on October 8th and is scheduled for release on Steam in 2027.

Players assume the role of Harrow McClellan, a disgraced police officer reassigned to her original precinct after a scandal that paradoxically became legendary within law enforcement. The core gameplay revolves around turn-based tactical encounters set within Scarhelm, a dystopian urban environment. A distinctive mechanic involves decisions about bodycam usage, allowing players to choose when to activate or deactivate their camera during encounters.

The game emphasizes narrative depth and consequence-driven gameplay, with every dialogue choice and tactical decision allowing players to embrace or subvert Harrow’s controversial reputation. Players patrol the open hubs of Scarhelm while navigating the weight of authority and the moral implications of police power over life and death. The title appears to commentary on the god-like authority police hold in life-or-death situations.

This tactical adventure represents Strange Scaffold’s continued focus on character-driven narratives within genre frameworks, maintaining the studio’s reputation for socially conscious storytelling in unconventional gaming spaces.
