7 Final Fantasy Games That Deserved Better
Polygon highlights seven Final Fantasy games that have been overlooked and deserve greater recognition from players and the gaming community. While Square Enix’s Final Fantasy franchise has produced over 100 games since its 1987 NES debut—far exceeding the 16 mainline entries—many of these titles remain unknown even to dedicated fans. Rather than focusing on forgettable spinoffs or defunct mobile games, the article identifies hidden gems, experimental entries, and critically underrated games that merit more appreciation. The piece positions these titles as significant contributions to the series despite receiving less attention than major releases. Final Fantasy X-2 is among the games examined for potential reevaluation.
