Artemis Fowl Animated TV Show Greenlit With Eoin Colfer as Executive Producer
Disney has officially greenlit an animated Artemis Fowl series for Disney Channel and Disney+, with author Eoin Colfer announcing the news at New York Comic Con 2026. The announcement comes as the beloved fantasy franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary, marking a significant return to television following the live-action film adaptation.
Colfer will serve as executive producer on the project, bringing his creative vision to the adaptation. He is joined by Ben Juwono, an executive producer on Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and Colleen Evanson from DuckTales. The team aims to “dig deeper into the characters and lore” of the franchise, expanding the world beyond what the books have explored.
The series follows Artemis Fowl II, a brilliant 13-year-old who discovers an underground civilization of technologically advanced, militarized fairies. In a desperate bid to save his dying mother and rescue his family, Artemis concocts an ambitious scheme to harness fairy magic for his own purposes. Disney’s pairing of experienced animation producers with Colfer’s creative oversight suggests a substantial commitment to bringing the intricate world and complex characters to audiences across both traditional television and streaming platforms.
