IDW Publishing has announced a major milestone celebration for the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, which will reach issue #100 in 2027. The publisher has launched a promotion called “Road to #100” to build anticipation for this significant achievement in the franchise’s print history.
The campaign officially kicks off with Sonic the Hedgehog #94, which introduces a new storyline centered on the characters Surge and Kit. The issue, written by Daniel Barnes and Evan Stanley with artwork by Alex Forrest, features the duo in a wrestling-themed narrative set in Pinfall Prairie, a desert frontier town where disputes are traditionally settled in the wrestling ring. According to the official solicitation, Surge has risen quickly through the ranks of this wrestling-focused community, setting up an action-packed arc.
This storyline launch marks the beginning of what IDW is positioning as a pivotal period leading toward the series’ centennial issue.
