No Man’s Sky Gets Unlikely iPhone and iPad Release, Including 10 Years Worth of Updates

Hello Games announced that No Man’s Sky will launch on iOS devices on October 28, 2026, bringing the vast space exploration sim to iPhone and iPad. Available for models dating back to the iPhone 11 and iPad Air 3, the mobile version is remarkably compact at just 5GB despite containing the game’s entire decade-long content library.

The iOS release is notably a full-featured port rather than a stripped-down adaptation. Studio co-founder Sean Murray emphasized the game is “not No Man’s Sky Lite,” including all major updates through the recent Cosmos expansion, which introduced space station ownership and management. Only multiplayer functionality and planetary settlements have been omitted from the mobile version.

Hello Games has been quietly developing the iOS port for nearly three years as an internal “side project.” The studio attributed part of its technical success to parallel work on its upcoming title Light No Fire, which contributed optimization insights. The team optimized the game specifically for Apple’s ecosystem, leveraging MetalFX technology and M-series chip capabilities to achieve performance targets.

The mobile version supports multiple input methods—touch controls, external gamepads, and mouse-and-keyboard combinations—while also offering TV casting capabilities. This flexibility allows players to experience No Man’s Sky across different devices and play styles.

Hello Games is offering the game as free-to-try at launch, with a one-time $19.99 unlock for the full experience. Pre-orders are now available on the App Store, marking another milestone in the game’s remarkable post-launch trajectory from a disappointing 2016 debut to a critically acclaimed space exploration phenomenon.
