XBOX Testing a New ‘Streak’ System for Dashboard
Xbox is testing a new “Streak” system for its dashboard that tracks and encourages player engagement on the platform. The feature is currently being tested through Xbox’s Insider program, a common approach the company uses to gather feedback before wider release.
According to reporting from GameFile, the Streak system was discovered by Stephen Totilo, a Delta-level Xbox Insider, during regular gameplay. The feature displays a streak counter on the dashboard alongside a system message explaining engagement requirements. Players need to use their Xbox console at least three days per week to maintain their streak.
This engagement-focused mechanic is part of Xbox’s strategy to drive regular console usage among its player base. The Streak system follows the company’s history of testing new features through its Insider program, including previous experiments with digital disc entitlements, console functionality updates, and an ad-supported cloud gaming tier.
The feature appears designed as a dashboard element to boost engagement metrics, though additional details regarding potential rewards or benefits associated with maintaining active streaks are not yet available. As with other Insider-tested features, the Streak system may be refined based on community feedback before becoming available to all Xbox users.
