Team Yandex is the Team to Beat After BLAST Slam VIII Victory
Team Yandex has solidified their position as Dota 2’s dominant roster by winning BLAST Slam VIII with a commanding 3-1 victory over Team Spirit. The tournament victory, claimed on Sunday, saw Team Yandex earn the $300,000 first-place prize and secure their second major trophy of the season.
Team Yandex’s dominant run through BLAST Slam VIII included victories over Parivision and Team Spirit twice, demonstrating consistent high-level performance. The team’s recent success can be attributed in part to their off-season signing of veteran off-lane player Ammar ‘ATF’ Al-Assaf, who departed from Team Falcons following the organization’s exit from competitive Dota 2 after its roster disbanded.
ATF’s impact has been immediate and measurable. Since joining Team Yandex, the accomplished off-laner has helped secure two major tournament victories in rapid succession: BLAST Slam VIII and PGL Wallachia Season 9 in September. His arrival appears to have elevated Team Yandex to a new level of competitive dominance, establishing them as the clear favorites heading into upcoming tournaments.
