Battlefield 6 Comes To Game Pass, Game Of The Year Edition Announced

Battlefield 6 has arrived on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for PC and console, with cloud streaming support, marking a significant effort to reinvigorate the game’s declining player base. The title, which launched in October 2025 as the best-selling game in the US that year, had a strong initial launch but has since experienced a notable drop in active players.

The Game Pass addition comes alongside sustained development efforts from Battlefield Studios, including the Season 5 update released on October 13. Simultaneously, EA announced a Game of the Year Edition featuring repackaged key art rendered in gold and accompanied by a new promotional trailer.

The GOTY designation is notable given that Battlefield 6 secured just a single Game of the Year award across over 700 outlets, according to game awards tracking data. Despite this modest award haul, EA considers it sufficient to warrant a dedicated Game of the Year release.

The dual initiatives—Game Pass availability and continued seasonal content—represent a coordinated strategy to attract returning players and lower the barrier to entry for new ones. The timing positions both efforts to work synergistically as the game enters its second year of support. This push reflects the ongoing competitive dynamics within the live-service FPS space, where maintaining an engaged player community is essential for long-term commercial and critical success.
