Critical Role’s New Canon Campaign Will Feature VTuber Stars
Critical Role has announced a new collaboration with Cover Corporation’s Hololive Production, a Japan-based virtual YouTuber agency, to create Shattered Legends, a new actual play miniseries launching in mid-November 2026. The miniseries will be set in Exandria, the fictional world established across Critical Role’s first three campaigns: Vox Machina, The Mighty Nein, and Bells Hells.
Shattered Legends will be canonical to the Exandria universe, meaning the events of the miniseries are considered part of the official storyline. This canonical status creates the possibility for cameos from established characters including Grog, Scanlan, Jester, Yasha, Fearne, and Imogen, allowing connections to previous campaign storylines.
The partnership represents a notable cross-cultural collaboration between Critical Role, the media company known for transforming D&D gameplay into a multi-platform entertainment phenomenon, and Hololive Production, one of Japan’s leading VTuber agencies. The venture expands the Exandria universe while introducing virtual talent personalities into Critical Role’s established actual play format.
