Elgato Announces The Wave Go Portable Microphone
Elgato has announced the Wave Go, a new convertible microphone designed for mobile content creators. The device comprises three main components: a clip-on microphone, a USB receiver compatible with mobile devices, and a smart handle that transforms the mic into a traditional interview-style microphone.
The smart handle serves multiple functions—it features onboard controls for easy adjustment, supports custom sound profiles for different recording scenarios, and includes built-in charging capabilities for the microphone. This makes the Wave Go a versatile tool for creators who work across different environments and recording styles.
The announcement reflects a significant shift in content creation toward mobile devices. According to Julian Fest, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Elgato, the company observed that “more content is being filmed on phones today than ever before, in more places and in ways that didn’t exist a few years ago.” The company positioned the Wave Go as a unified solution for creators who need professional-quality audio without sacrificing portability—combining multiple tools into a single system that can be easily transported.
The Wave Go represents Elgato’s expansion into the mobile audio market, addressing a gap where creators have struggled to achieve broadcast-quality audio with portable, easy-to-use equipment.
