Coming soon to Invincible VS, it’s your copyright-friendly neighbourhood Agent Spider
Invincible VS has revealed Agent Spider as an upcoming DLC character, a copyright-friendly parody of Marvel’s Spider-Man. The fighting game leverages the widespread recognition of the iconic character while avoiding legal complications through clever reimagining. Agent Spider is being introduced to the game based on his appearance in the Invincible animated television series, where he encounters the protagonist Invincible after the villain Angstrom Levy transports him through alternate dimensions. The character design plays on the “you know who I am” premise inherent to Spider-Man’s ubiquity in popular culture. The DLC announcement also includes a mechanical-armed Professor Ock variant, suggesting a thematic set of character parodies drawn from the Invincible show’s multiverse narrative. This approach allows the developers to incorporate familiar character archetypes and create humorous references without trademark conflicts, tapping into player recognition while maintaining legal distance from the original Marvel intellectual property.
