How to complete An Unheard Farewell in Valor Mortis
“An Unheard Farewell” is a Chapter 2 side quest in Valor Mortis in which players assist an Adjutant Sous-Officier in locating his missing scout squad. The Adjutant, encountered at a wagon after defeating a grenadier, is too fearful to search for his lost comrades himself and enlists William’s help.
The missing scouts can be found in a cave located halfway up an elevator shaft in the Valley of Ashes, accessible from the ‘The Climb’ lantern. Players must first progress to the top level to unlock access to this location. Upon completing the quest, all players receive the Sleight of Hand amber reward.
The quest features a moral choice element: players can choose to tell the Adjutant the truth about his scouts or lie about what they discover. Regardless of which option players select, they receive the Sleight of Hand amber as a guaranteed reward. However, choosing to tell the truth or lie triggers different bonus rewards, allowing players to customize their quest completion based on their preferred playstyle or moral alignment.
