Valve is clearing out its discontinued Index VR headsets if you want a cheap piece of history
Valve is clearing remaining inventory of its discontinued Index VR headset, which has been superseded by the newly launched Steam Frame. Originally released in 2019 at $499 for the headset alone, clearance stock is now available for $399.20. The full bundle that previously included controllers and a base station, originally priced at $999, is no longer available as part of the discontinuation.
Replacement parts are also being cleared at discounted prices, with left controller replacements and replacement tethers reduced to $119.20 and $103.20 respectively. However, right controller replacements are not currently available, complicating efforts to obtain complete replacement components.
The Index VR headset served as Valve’s flagship virtual reality offering for several years and represents a notable piece of VR hardware history. This clearance sale offers enthusiasts and collectors an opportunity to acquire the discontinued hardware at reduced prices as Valve transitions focus to its next-generation Steam Frame platform.
