I just tricked DLSS into running on my AMD GPU in Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 and all it took was running a single script

A new tool called HelixSR enables AMD GPU users to run NVIDIA’s DLSS upscaling technology in games that normally support AMD’s FSR 3.1, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2. The tool works by intercepting the FSR 3.1 library and replacing it with DLSS 3.7 (Model E) while making games unaware of the switch, effectively tricking them into using DLSS instead of AMD’s native solution.

The implementation leverages AMD’s regular shader cores for upscaling since AMD GPUs lack NVIDIA’s specialized Tensor cores. According to early testing, the tool is straightforward to install and use. However, the practical benefits are modest—while it allows DLSS functionality on AMD hardware, the image quality differences between DLSS and FSR 3.1 upscaling are not dramatic, and performance may actually decrease slightly with DLSS enabled.

Despite the minimal performance gains and lack of major visual improvements, HelixSR represents an interesting workaround for AMD users interested in experimenting with DLSS technology outside of NVIDIA hardware. The tool demonstrates the flexibility of modern graphics APIs and the ability to modify how games interact with upscaling libraries.
