Arc Raiders’ PvE test is finally here and it’s the perfect reason to jump back in

Arc Raiders, the free-to-play third-person shooter from Embark Studios, is launching a PvE (Player versus Environment) test mode. The addition directly addresses player feedback from those who appreciate the game’s world design, environmental storytelling, and communal narrative mechanics but find the competitive PvP experience discouraging or time-consuming.

The test mode enables players to experience Arc Raiders’ content and story progression without competing against other players, creating a more relaxed gaming experience. Embark Studios had previously teased this feature in announcements weeks prior, signaling the developer’s commitment to responding to community requests for alternative playstyles.

This development is significant for the live-service shooter, which has differentiated itself through unique communal storytelling mechanics—a feature that sets it apart from traditional competitive titles. The addition of PvE options could expand the game’s reach beyond hardcore competitive players, attracting those interested primarily in exploration, narrative discovery, and world immersion.
