The Walking Dead’s Chandler Riggs made a Resident Evil 7 short film even though ‘it’s impossible to please everybody’

Chandler Riggs, known for his role as Carl in The Walking Dead, has directed a 20-minute short film adaptation of Resident Evil 7. The fan-made film is set in the Baker family’s bayou home and focuses on a garage fight scene between protagonist Ethan Winters and the infected Jack Baker.

One of the most notable aspects of the short film is its depiction of Ethan Winters’ face. In the game, Ethan remains characteristically faceless throughout most of Resident Evil 7, only revealing his face in limited instances within the Shadows of Rose DLC. The short film’s decision to show Ethan’s face represents a significant departure from the game’s established visual style.

Riggs’ entry into adapting game content comes amid a growing number of Resident Evil film adaptations. The director acknowledged the inherent challenges of fan adaptations, noting that “it’s impossible to please everybody” – reflecting the diverse expectations among fans regarding creative interpretation of the original game material.
