Marvel TV Boss Says Daredevil: Born Again Was Always Meant to End With Season 3, Despite Previously Suggesting Otherwise

Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum has clarified that Daredevil: Born Again was always planned to conclude with Season 3, despite previous statements that suggested otherwise. In an interview with The Brandon Davis Show, Winderbaum explained that the three-season arc was the intended endpoint from the beginning, noting the symmetry with the original Netflix Daredevil series, which also ran for three seasons.

Winderbaum described the structure as deliberate, with both iterations operating as complete narrative packages that “culminate” at Season 3. The announcement of the show ending came as a surprise to some fans, particularly given earlier messaging that had left the door open to continued seasons. The clarification offers insight into Marvel Television’s long-term planning for the reborn series, which marked the character’s return to television following the character’s prior appearances in Netflix’s Marvel shows.

This statement indicates that despite the shock of the cancellation announcement, the storyline’s conclusion was mapped out well in advance rather than representing a mid-production decision. The three-season structure provides closure to Matt Murdock’s character arc within the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s television slate.
