Destiny 1 project, which aims to port the game to PC, seemingly gets a nod from Bungie boss

A fan-led effort to port the original Destiny to PC appears to have earned cautious approval from Bungie. Modders, led by YouTuber Flummoxed, have been developing a PC version of the 2014 shooter-MMO, which was originally exclusive to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Recent gameplay footage showcases the port running at 4K resolution with frame rates exceeding 60 frames per second, alongside improvements such as an expanded field of view compared to the console releases.

The project’s progress video circulated widely within the Destiny community and notably caught the attention of Bungie’s leadership. Rather than issuing a cease-and-desist notice, the studio appeared to acknowledge the effort positively—a significant gesture from a major publisher that typically guards intellectual property closely.

This development arrives as Bungie navigates a transitional period for the Destiny franchise. The company announced in May 2026 that it would end active development on Destiny 2, prompting community backlash. Bungie subsequently clarified that it remains committed to the Destiny universe, leaving the door open for future projects. The modding team’s success in bringing the original game to PC, combined with hints from Bungie’s leadership about potential remasters, suggests the publisher may be considering ways to revitalize the franchise while leveraging fan interest and technical advancements.

The lack of a takedown notice is particularly noteworthy, signaling Bungie’s openness to community-driven preservation efforts at a moment when the company is reassessing its gaming portfolio.
