Halo Campaign Evolved gets multiplayer, thanks to yet another fan-made mod

The Halo community continues to fill the gaps left by official development with ambitious fan-made projects. Mjolnir Core, a newly-released community mod, adds full multiplayer functionality to Halo: Campaign Evolved, a game that originally shipped without multiplayer support. The mod includes 19 classic maps from Halo: Combat Evolved and enables matches with up to 16 players. This follows a broader pattern of community intervention in classic Halo titles. Project Reclaimer for Halo 3, for example, goes further by adding custom server browsers, extensive mod support capabilities, and accommodation for up to 128 players per match—features absent from the original PC release. These extensive mods highlight the enduring appeal of classic Halo games and the community’s commitment to preserving and expanding these legacy titles. As official Halo Studios resources appear stretched, community developers have stepped in to maintain these cornerstone games, demonstrating how dedicated fan communities can sustain popular franchises long after official support wanes.
