I just tricked DLSS into running on my AMD GPU in Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 and all it took was running a single script

A new tool called HelixSR has made it possible to run NVIDIA’s DLSS upscaling technology on AMD GPUs by tricking games into believing they’re using AMD’s FSR 3.1 instead. The tool works by replacing the FSR 3.1 upscaling algorithm with DLSS 3.7 (Model E) and can be installed with a simple script, making it accessible to users with older AMD graphics cards.

HelixSR functions by patching a custom DLL file based on the official DLSS algorithm, which then performs upscaling using standard shader cores rather than NVIDIA’s specialized Tensor cores. The tool has been successfully tested in games including Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2.

According to testing, the visual differences between the patched DLSS implementation and standard FSR 3.1 are minimal, though the tool does result in a slight performance decrease. Despite this trade-off, the ease of installation and accessibility make HelixSR worth experimenting with for AMD GPU owners looking to try DLSS without upgrading hardware. This development could extend the lifespan of older AMD graphics cards by providing access to NVIDIA’s upscaling technology.
