League Classic Set To End and Become a Rotating Game Mode

Riot Games has announced that League of Legends Classic, a nostalgic game mode recreating the early-game experience from Seasons 1-4, will end as a permanent fixture on January 6, 2027. The mode’s tenure was brief, lasting less than six months since its launch on July 29, 2026.

Although League Classic initially generated substantial player interest, Riot reports that engagement has waned as players have migrated back to other League of Legends game modes and features. This shift in player behavior prompted the publisher to discontinue the mode’s permanent availability.

Riot Games has signaled that League Classic may not be permanently retired. The publisher intends to bring the mode back in the future, but exclusively as a limited-time event rather than a permanent option. Future iterations may incorporate adjustments and enhancements informed by player feedback during the original run.
