I asked for this Teams feature years ago, and Microsoft finally delivered
Microsoft Teams is receiving a new feature that will allow users to share videos directly from OneDrive during meetings and virtual events. This addresses a significant usability challenge that Teams users have faced for years, as the current methods for sharing video content are less than optimal.
Currently, sharing video in Teams typically requires users to either employ screen sharing—which degrades video quality and creates a poor viewing experience—or embed videos in PowerPoint presentations, a process that requires additional setup steps and extra work from presenters.
The upcoming update will enable direct video sharing from OneDrive, delivering high-quality video playback to event attendees while dramatically simplifying the sharing process. Microsoft announced this feature through the Microsoft 365 Message Center, confirming that the update will roll out soon as part of regular Teams maintenance.
This improvement demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to refining Teams’ collaboration capabilities in response to user feedback. For Teams users who frequently present video content during meetings, presentations, and virtual events, the new feature promises to be a significant quality-of-life improvement by eliminating the workarounds and technical friction currently associated with video sharing.
