Conclusion of Rockstar’s employment tribunal delayed into November, almost day and date with GTA 6’s release

The employment tribunal between Rockstar Games and the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) has been extended into November, with closing arguments now scheduled for November 18th. The case was originally expected to conclude this week but has been delayed due to extended witness cross-examination that has run longer than anticipated.

Both Rockstar’s legal team and IWGB representatives requested additional time to continue questioning current and former staff members. The IWGB will complete its cross-examination of Rockstar leadership this week, while Rockstar’s lawyers have been granted extra time to question the dismissed employees before closing arguments are presented to the judge.

The tribunal concerns allegations of union-busting related to the layoff of several employees from the GTA 6 developer. The timing of the extended proceedings is notable, as the tribunal’s conclusion will occur just days before GTA 6’s scheduled mid-November release date. The case has drawn significant attention within the gaming industry and among labour advocates, with the outcome potentially having broader implications for unionization efforts in game development.
